Polar Bear Meet #1 (01/22/21) – Central Bucks South, Cheltenham, and Bensalem
Despite a delay to start the season and some new adjustments to competition, the Patriots still defeated their local rival CB South as well as Cheltenham and Bensalem in the first official “Polar Bear” meet of the 2020-2021 winter journey.
Leading the way was junior Nik Ventura who scored points in three events: taking first in the 60-meter hurdles (9.48), first in the long jump (17’7”), and third in the triple jump (personal best of 37’9”). Junior Evan Clark was close behind with two first place finishes in the 60-meter dash (7.44) and the 400-meter run (53.22). Freshman Mike Steitz made his mark with a personal best of 24.35 and a third place finish in the 200-meter dash; not to mention a PR of 7.69 in the 60 as well.
In the field, junior Noah Wilson set a personal best of 36’0” to capture silver while junior Conor Meyers snagged a bronze with a personal best of 33’9”.
Meanwhile, on the distance side, juniors Aaron Gan (10:38.19) and Cole Kochan (10:40.39) went 1-2 in the grueling 3000-meter race. Sophomore Patrick Haurin was second in the 1600 with a personal record of 5:06.01 while senior Austin Hicks was fourth overall with a personal record of 5:15.78. And in the 800, junior Patrick Kleemeier used a personal record of 2:19.06 to earn a third place finish while Luke Gormley set a personal record of 2:34.24.
And, with only a few days of actual training to this point, seniors Ethan Evans and Andrew Shea tied for second in the high jump when they cleared 5’4”.
The team collectively accumulated 9 personal records, five first place finishes, and proved they can compete in frigid conditions!

Updated on 06/10/2022
In the second Polar Bear meet of the season, the Patriots defeated Quakertown and Wissahickon, but feel short of taking down the Knights from North Penn.
Once again, the Patriots had a strong showing in the field as junior Noah Wilson captured first place with his second straight week with a personal best, this time launching a throw of 36’10.25”. Junior Conor Meyers once again finished third to help the team secure most of the points in that event. Junior Nik Ventura captured gold in the long jump (18’1.5”) for his second straight week with a first place finish. Senior Andrew Shea was second in the high jump with a new high mark of 5’6” on the young season.
On the track, senior Luke Blackwell used a strong final stretch to secure first in the 400 with a 52.26 while senior Ethan Evans set a personal best of 56.65 to finish in the top five and Shea earned a personal record of 58.55. Senior Holden Emery pulled far ahead of the competition to capture first in the 800 while junior Brett Spivack set a personal record of 2:36.24. Four distance runners set personal bests on the day. Juniors, Owen Carter (5:22.71), Patrick Kleemeier (5:30.85), and Matt Saks (5:55.10) in the 1600 and junior Cole Kochan in the 3000 (10:35.62). It was déjà vu for Mike Steitz as he secured first in the 200-meter dash. And Ventura and Meyers set PRs of 9.34 and 10.32 respectively in the 60-meter hurdles with Ventura snagging a third-place finish overall.
The team topped their season best in PRs with ten on the day and tied the season best of five first place finishes.
