CB East Downs Souderton

Facing a tough opponent, the team needed contributions from all areas to defeat Souderton by a score of 86-64 on Tuesday, April 27th at Patriot Stadium. 

Junior Nik Ventura and senior Ethan Evans got the scoring started with a 1-2 finish in the 300 hurdles with personal bests of 42.34 and 43.50 respectively. Senior Andrew Shea (45.57) and sophomore Connor Thurston (46.57) also set a personal best in the event. Then, senior Holden Emery anchored the victorious 4x800-meter relay (in 2:11.7) after strong legs by sophomore Josh Daniels (PR of 2:05.5), junior Luke Gormley (2:15.5), and junior Jack Steitz (2:15.4). Emery would later win the 400 in a district-qualifying mark of 50.34 to move into the top five all-time in CB East history. Junior Evan Clark earned first in the 100 (11.53) and 200 (23.60) while a combined ten of his teammates set new bests in those events. In the 1600, it was a clean sweep of the mile led by senior Austin Hicks (PR of 4:50.77), senior Carson Wiley (4:51.50), and junior Owen Carter (4:52.41).

In the field, it was the jumpers who stole the show. Senior Kyle Dunigan moved into the top ten all-time with a first-place personal best of 13'0" in the pole vault. In fact, all pole vault competitors set a personal best with senior Xavier Bardwell earned points in third at 10'6", Clark clearing 10'6", and junior Joey Mignon clearing 8'6". Making his return to the pit, senior Luke Blackwell jumped 41'4" to earn first in the triple jump with Ventura getting second at 40'10.5" and senior David Oluwabusi earning a personal best of 39'3".

Medals Galore at the CB West Relays

The Patriots brought home more medals than a prospector in a mine on Saturday after getting the chance to compete at the CB West Relays.

On the track, it all started with the 110-meter shuttle hurdle relay who brought home gold with strong performances by junior Nik Ventura, junior Conor Meyers, senior Andrea Shea, and senior Ethan Evans; all stayed late after practice this week to improve their performances. Later in the day, Evans and Ventura showed off their depth in the hurdles with a gold-medal win in the 300-hurdle relay. Evans secured a personal best of 43.84 while Ventura used a strong start and showed grit to overcome a late stumble to hold on for the team victory.

On the distance side, the 4x1600-meter relay secured a bronze medal by outkicking rivals CB West and Pennridge. The relay consisted of leadoff leg and senior Carson Wiley (4:51.67), senior Austin Hicks (4:57.20), junior Owen Carter (4:59.19), and senior Holden Emery (4:30.57). The Distance Medley Relay was highlighted by a 7-second personal record by junior Matt Saks in the 800 (2:23.82) to go along with a strong 1200 by junior Sam Ruch (3:51.74), a sold 53.88 from junior Evan Clark in his third event of the day, and a steady anchor leg in the 1600 by Cole Kochan (5:02.0). The join effort led to a bronze medal.

Several sprinters contributed to point-scoring finishes in the SMR and 4x100-meter relay as each relay was sixth overall and the 4x200-meter relay, which finished fifth. Juniors Andrew Chimezie and AJ Garomon showed resilience by running in all three events while junior Joey Mignon made up major ground to close the 4x200. The Steitz brothers, Mike and Jack, had excellent races in the SMR with a 54.02 for Mike in the 400 and 2:12.43 for Jack in the 800.

In the field, it was senior Xavier Bardwell who stood out with a personal best of 10’0” in the pole vault while his fellow senior Kyle Dunigan pushed the team to silver with a clearance of 11’6”. Ethan Evans and Shea grabbed another medal with a silver in the high jump as both cleared 5’6”. And Shea teamed up with Ventura to win a bronze in the triple jump while jumping 35’5.5” in his debut in the event while Ventura jumped 38’5.5”. Ventura, Shea, and Evans brought home three medals each on the day!

North Penn Dual Meet Yields Great Results

Despite a tough loss to the undefeated North Penn Knights, the Patriots had just under 50 new personal bests while athletes pushed themselves to new limits in a variety of events.

Senior Holden Emery had three terrific races on the day with a first place finish in the 1600 at 4:29.06, a first place finish in the 800 with a 1:58.60, and a 49.6-second anchor leg to the victorious 4x400-meter relay. The 49.6 is a top-ten all-time split in CB East history. Junior Patrick Kleemeier and senior Ethan Evans had monster personal bests to complete the 4x400 with a 54.4 and 52.8 respectively. Junior Nik Ventura scored second in both jumps (long – personal best of 19’4.75” and triple – 40’1”), second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.84, and third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.09.

Junior Evan Clark was asked to return to the long jump for the first time in a couple of years and won first place with a jump of 19’4.75”; Clark was also second in the 200 with a 23.28 and lead off the 4x400 with a 52.8. Junior Noah Wilson was first in the shot put (38’3.75”) with senior Ben Cobin (35’0.5”) taking third. Junior Conor Meyers had a personal best of 90’10” to win third in the discus; junior Matt Patrick had his own best of 86’10” and so did Wilson with a throw of 83’4”.

Several Patriots kept progressing in their respective races. Junior Matt Saks had three personal bests on the day with a 5:27.25 in the 1600, a 2:30.06 in the 800, and a 65.9 in the 400. Saks was one of eight 1600 runners to PR on the day including Emery, senior Carson Wiley (4:42.84), junior Owen Carter (4:56.50), junior Cole Kochan (4:59.76), sophomore Alan Bai (5:30.69), junior Brett Spivack (5:46.35), and sophomore Liam Donnelly (5:49.94).

The 4x800 Takes Gold at North Penn Invite

The 4x800-meter relay of senior Carson Wiley, senior Ethan Evans, sophomore Josh Daniels, and senior Holden Emery captured the gold medal on Saturday. Wiley and Evans each clocked personal bests of 2:07.7 and 2:03.0 respectively. Later in the day, senior Marcos Lopez captured gold in the 400 with a district-standard qualifying race of 50.84. The 4x400, anchored by Lopez at 50.7, just missed gold with a speedy 3:25.25; Emery clocked a 49.7 on the third leg with junior Evan Clark leading off with a 52.2 and freshmen Mike Steitz clocking a 53.3 after setting a personal best of 53.33 earlier in the open event. Senior Kyle Dunigan captured second in the pole vault with another clearance of 12'0"; matching his mark from Tuesday.Three miles, senior Austin Hicks (4:54.61), junior Patrick Kleemeier (5:07.24) and senior Zach Carson (5:08.17) set personal bests on the day. Overall, the team had 15 personal bests and six top ten finishes. 

Lopez and Clark Hit District Qualifying Marks at Pennridge

The boys track team earned some incredible results in a tough loss to Pennridge on Tuesday. Senior Holden Emery ran the second-fasted 800 split in CB East history with a time of 1:53.60 in the 4x800. Senior Marcos Lopez finished second in the 100 with the third-fastest FAT time in CB East history at 10.95 and junior Evan Clark entered the top ten list with a third-place finish of 11.21. Senior Kyle Dunigan won the pole vault and is now tied for 21st all-time in school history.

 

Junior Nik Ventura secured first in the triple jump with a personal best of 40’4”. Seniors Ethan Evans and Andrew Shea each cleared 5’10” in the high jump. Senior Austin Hicks earned second in the mile with a time of 4:55.80 and junior Owen Carter earned second in the 3200 with a time of 10:45.07. Junior Noah Wilson snagged third in the shot put with another throw over 40 feet and senior Luke Blackwell finished second in the javelin with a personal best of 123’2” while junior Matt Patrick finished third with a personal best of 112’2”. Freshmen Mike Steitz edged out the competition at the line to follow Lopez and Clark to a sweep of the 400. In total, the team had 48 personal records!

CB East Defeats CB South

The CB East Boys Track team defeated CB South 91-59 to open the spring season! Junior Nik Ventura led the team with 18 points by taking first in the 300 hurdles (43.2), the 110 high hurdles (16.9), and the triple jump (39’6”) while securing second place in the long jump (18’10.75”). Senior Holden Emery ran a blazing 1:55 to secure a come from behind victory for the 4x800-meter relay, won the 800, and anchored the 4x400 to victory to play a role in amassing 15 more points for the team. Junior Noah Wilson broke the 40-ft mark while capturing second in the shot put and senior Kyle Dunigan got first in the pole vault by clearing 10 feet. Senior Marcos Lopez and junior Evan Clark got first in the 400 and 100 respectively. Senior Ethan Evans set a personal best of 5’10” in the high jump to win second while senior Andrew Shea cleared 5’8” to earn third; both athletes scored in the hurdles as well.

In the 100, junior AJ Garomon ran a personal best of 12.9 while sophomore Liam Sharkey ran a personal best of 13.2. In the 200, freshman Tyler Kennedy ran a personal best of 27.6. In the 800, junior Luke Gormley ran a personal best of 2:18.6, senior Austin Hicks ran a personal best of 2:30.0, and junior Brett Spivack ran a personal best of 2:33.0. Junior Cole Kochan (10:58.10) was second in the 3200 while senior Carson Wiley (11:01.10) secured third. In the field, junior Ethan Evans set a new best in the high jump with a second-place finish of 5’10” while senior Andrew Shea secured third by clearing 5’6”.

Overall, it was a well-rounded win for the Patriots!
