For the first time in two years, the Patriots returned to Lehigh University to compete and compete they did! The team earned four medals, two Meet of Champion-qualifying performances, six top ten finishes, and nine personal records.

The top performance came from the 4x800-meter relay. Flying out to the front of the pack, junior Joe Sims set a personal best of 2:13.18 and set the tone for the rest of his teammates. Senior Patrick Kleemeier responded with a personal best of his own at 2:15.13 to close out the second leg. Senior Jack Steitz (2:12.87) and junior Josh Daniels (2:18.07) completed the gold-medal performance and secured the team a spot in the Meet of Champions.

The Distance Medley Relay headed to the track determined to join their teammates in bringing home some precious medal. Junior James Sexton had an outstanding debut in his first ever 1200-meter with a leadoff leg of 3:42.21. Senior Sam Ruch, normally primed for the distance events, took on the challenge of the 400 and ran a 66.52. Senior Matt Saks then set a personal best of 2:30.22 in the 800 to put the team in contention. While also making a strong debut in his first indoor track race, senior Pierson Stallings held off a LaSalle competitor down the stretch to run a 5:00.89 in the 1600. The team earned the silver medal and a spot in the Meet of Champions.

Individually, seniors Evan Clark and Nik Ventura shined. Clark left the track to leap his way to a bronze-medal with a personal best of 11’6” in the pole vault, a full foot higher than last spring. In the 60-meter hurdles, Ventura used a strong start to hit a personal best of 9.17 in the preliminaries. Then, competing in the finals, Ventura ran 9.27 and earned a fourth-place medal. Other notable performances included senior Cole Kochan, who ran a personal record of 10:33.36 in the 3000, and junior Nick Ginaldi, who had a personal best of 58.01 in the open 400.
