Battling the windy, cold conditions, the Patriots lost a tough opening dual meet to CB South by a score of 80-70. Despite the loss, the team had several highlights to celebrate, especially in the field and distance events.

In the throws, senior captain Noah Wilson took first in the shot put with a throw of 40’2.5” while sophomore Jacob Tannenbaum took second with a personal record of 39’0.75”. Seniors Conor Meyers (36’9.75”) and Matt Patrick (35’1.5”) also set PRs in the event. Tannenbaum later took first in the discus with a PR of 117’7” with Wilson taking third with a PR of 110’0’. Meyers added another PR with a throw of 95’3”. Patrick and Meyers went two-three in the javelin with throws of 109’4” and 105’4” respectively. Tannenbaum has his third PR of the day in the event with a throw of 83’3”. Sophomore Sam Lauro also had a PR of over 20 feet when he launched the discus 81’11”.

Senior captain Nik Ventura led the way in the horizontal jumps with a first-place finish in the triple jump (40’10.5”) and a second-place finish in the long jump (19’8.25”). Senior captain Evan Clark led the way in the pole vault with a first-place finish (10’6”) while sophomore Zach Mancini captured third (9’6”). On the track, Ventura and Clark were key contributors again. Ventura capped off a monster day with wins in the 300-hurdles (45.84) and the 110-hurdles (16.92). Clark had two second-place finishes in the 100 (11.59) and the 200 (23.89).

The distance runners were led by a 1-2-3 finish in the 1600. Running a smart, controlled race, the trio of junior Josh Daniels, freshman Dylan Borden, and junior James Sexton pulled away in the final lap to earn all nine points for the team. In the 3200, Daniels, who was making his debut in the event, finished second with a 11:00.01 and was joined by senior captain Cole Kochan who ran a 11:02.15 to finish third.
